Weekender - noun. week-end-er, A person who engages in a sport, hobby, or other activity occasionally, esp. on weekends.

Sunday night already? The weekends go WAY to fast over here. We had a good weekend even though Xander and I caught Caleb's cold. We were down for the count on Thursday and worked uphill from there. Friday morning was doing better and good enough to have a couple friends stop by Friday night before they stole Caleb and headed off to a neighborhood concert, and left me and Xander some quiet time. On Saturday we went with Caleb to a car show, tried out a couple big cars we're looking at buying and even saw Santa! Not the experience mama expected out of her little one.
Xander's new Christmas pajamas! They aren't actually new, I think my dad got them for him when he was born, they looked so big compared to his size then, it's hard to believe it's almost been a year and he's so BIG. He can fit into those pj's without a problem. There's Sunil given the thumbs up. Just a couple people having some drinks and talking before heading off to the 'Evening Muse' a local venue/bar for a little music. It was a Gallery Crawl night in NODA so there were a lot of people walking around the streets on one FREEZING (literally) Charlotte night. That's why little man and I opted out of the festivities and hit the sack!
Went to the Charlotte Auto show with some friends and played around on some of the new cars. Here's Max and Samia playing in a trunk that Caleb threw them in. Xander really liked climbing in some cars himself, not like the last car show we went to were he couldn't touch anything.
Not my child!!! Xander, who loves everyone and reaches out for strangers to hold him, freaked out when I handed him to Santa!!! I couldn't believe it. His mother will force Christmas down his throat starting the day after Halloween for his entire childhood and he's afraid of one person....Santa. Unbelievable. But, look at that face...I can't handle that scared little face.
Mama jumped in to save him. I couldn't believe he didn't like Santa, or didn't like anyone, this kid hasn't met a stranger yet, well I guess this makes one!
Santa, the dirty old man, thought of this idea...
My two boys. Hanging out at car shows...

Amazing - adj. a-maz-ing, Causing great surprise or sudden wonder.

Send your own ElfYourself eCards

Document - noun. doc-u-ment, Something, such as a recording or a photograph, that can be used to furnish evidence or information.

Here are a couple random camera phone shots. Some days X and I like to head over to Target and walk slowly through the Christmas isles. Part of the reason I can take my time is if I let X hold and touch things, otherwise he gets too impatient and wants to crawl around. Also, I like to try random things on him, especially if it makes him look even cuter, if that's possible.
This was my idea and Target stole it and is making money. I've been collecting pine cones to spray paint and glitter for months now! I think I'll do that this weekend. Mine will be much cooler.
Oh how cute! Relaxing on the couch with our matching socks. They are actually Caleb's socks but I don't own any of my own, a good Christmas present for me I guess...
Yes. I know...I was giggling while I took the picture. He did better than I expected. He likes to rip hats off as soon as I get them on him so I assumed a beard would make it worse, he handled it like a pro.
Mom already has him in his Christmas clothes...We got this hat as a gift when he was first born, it was so big for him! I can't imagine anymore how teeny-tiny he was, he's such a big boy now, walking around and everything.
Sorry for the poor quality! I did this last night in the freezing cold, my hands were numb when I was finished, but it was definitely worth it. You can't see how I strung them up and taped the extension cord on the ceiling and ran it down the side of the door, during the day it looks so terrible! Ha, but none of that matters when you have Christmas lights up.
'I do all my own stunts', and how true! Poor little X-man climbed up his favorite chair yesterday and before he knew it was headed straight to the floor, forehead-first. He cried so hard and has a big bump to show for it. I hate when he gets hurt but it hardly phased him, the second I set him down he went right back to the chair, with me on his heels this time. Caleb put a big box on the chair to keep him away for now, thankfully.

Urban - adj. ur-ban, Characteristic of or accustomed to cities; citified, living in a city.

It was a busy weekend, even with Caleb feeling terrible. I felt sorry for him so Friday we stayed in and kept a low profile. I've been looking high and low in Charlotte for live Christmas trees for sale but NO ONE is selling them this early. It's really not even that early, considering Christmas is like 40 something days away, if not sooner but still...ugh. I'm pretty frustrated because I was all about decorating one this weekend. But, I did get a wreath to put on the door, so that will help me deal the next weeks while I wait. Caleb got tickets to the Bobcats (Charlotte Basketball) game from work so we got to take X to his first pro-basketball game. We also met a bunch of friends for dinner on Saturday night at a local Indian restaurant, I love good ethnic food, and I love being in a city where I can get it. Here's our weekend in a nutshell.
Taking a walk in the neighborhood...just a random fuzzy shot.
Having an Indian dinner...this is my eating face.
A couple friends over after a screen-printing party, I'm not sure if that's an official way to party but it was interesting to see. And, I'm eating again...yes, that's a Cheeto in my mouth.
This isn't a good picture, but it's a pretty good moment. I was whining to Caleb about making me walk by myself up to the deli. I wanted him to walk with me even though it was cold and he's too sick to be walking around...but I can be selfish if I want. He actually took a video of the whole thing, I'll admit, it's pretty funny.
My precious family, at the Bobcats game.
Watching the national anthem and the pretty lights.
Really good seats! Apparently they are Caleb's companies season tickets...I think we should go more often. X fell asleep watching the game, just for 15 or so minutes but it was so sweet.
Those little red cold cheeks! I just want to kiss them forever!!! And X is cute too :).
City boys. Sorry it's blurry, I didn't want to use the flash.

Vroom - noun. The roaring sound made by a motor at high speed.

A couple weeks ago Caleb brought a surprise home for the little munchkin. His very own Radio Flyer race car. It's vintage, made out of metal and super cute. It'll last forever. X is already climbing on and off of it and pushing it around the house. He's turning into the cutest little man.
So proud of his race car. Caleb has plans to 'pimp' it out, I think some pin striping and maybe welding some stuff on the front grill.
Working on the horn. He can't do it quite as well as his papa but he still gets a little sound out of it. He can't quite push it around while he's sitting on it yet, his feet don't fit flat on the floor. But he stands by it and holds the wheel and pushes it around.
Our new gloves, and our first pair. We like to clap when we're wearing them! We also like to pull them off right when they get on, same with all of our hats.
And I made some more vegi-chili for the rainy-foggy weather. Last time we had chili I thought I was over it for good but the weather made me change my mind.

Crafty - adj. craft-y, Relating to, or characterized by, craft or skill; dexterous.

A lady in our neighborhood was throwing out quite a few of these windows, some with eight, six, four and even two panes. I made sure to knock on her door and ask if I could take them and she said yep...so Mary and I got her car and loaded up her trunk. They've been sitting on the porch for a while and Caleb's been threatening to get rid of them, but I wanted to do fun things with them. Today I decided to make some owls. I used four different cut-outs and sprayed the owls in reverse, because of the glass. Eyes, then the white of the eyes then the details and last the body. Caleb did three and I did three. I had so much fun, now I need to figure out what to do with the rest of the windows.

Heritage - noun. her-it-age, Any attribute or immaterial possession that is inherited from ancestors.

Spent some time in uptown Charlotte this morning/afternoon. One of my favorite sites to check when the weekend starts is charlottesgotalot.com, it's great for finding out what's going on around town. I've practically got December booked up with all the Christmas activities everywhere! I found a Scandinavian fesitval going on in the Wachovia Atrium, it was free so we went to check it out. It was a lot of fun, getting there and being there. It wasn't very big but the Sons of Norway found me and want me to join...Awe, I think I might, I need a touch of Norway in my life.
Here is a pretty door we found on our walk around town. I think it was to a bank, I don't know why they had it but it was nice.
You can't see them but the Knights or fighters or whatever you call them were fighting behind us, those guys are just plain silly. But those are my wellies that Caleb painted for me, too bad the picture is black and white.
How cute! It might not work out very well but it's a cute idea anyway.
Velkommen!
MMMMMM, Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy and Lingonberries! Now I wish the Ikea was open, only a couple more months!
A true Scandinavian. I'll never let him forget the Norweigan in his blood!
I do not know who this character is, but they kind of look alike.
The last character was weird, this one was just plain freaky. Some sort of Scandinavian bridge troll or...
This man was nice enough to hold the little man while we snapped a picture. X was loving the attention of everyone. He always is so outgoing until people notice him, then he gets really quiet and is unsure of everyone around him.
Here's a random shot of X playing with something he shouldn't be playing with.

Art - noun. Quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary.

A couple weeks ago we went to the Charlotte Mint Museum for an Andy Warhol show. We weren't allowed a camera so most of the pictures are blurry because we shut the flash off. A good time but the show was smaller than I thought it was going to be. The rest of the museum was fun too. Little man got kinda antsy so I had to let him crawl around when no one was looking.
I think he was scared, I don't know why.
It's hard to explain to a baby that you want him to sit still because we don't have the flash on. Also, he doesn't understand what, 'Ssshhhhhh!' means, so quit staring you old rude man!
This is the face I make when X screams in museums, then throws his bottle on the ground because he likes the sound.
Love and art.
This is me, not getting it, but still kind of liking it and then wondering why it's worth so much.
This is NOT an Andy Warhol original, but it did make me sad. No one should treat a Christmas tree like this! All of the needles were inside the glass ball decorations, I don't know what that means, but, 'this means something'.
This wasn't at the art show but he's so cute I had to share it.
